It’s that time of year again for me – time for my birthday. Usually this involves receiving clothes and some money here and there. This year, however, I wanted to try something a little different. I’ve been a bit inspired by the fact that my birthday happens to fall on the last day of the second fiscal quarter (June 30th). So, in this fashion, I’d like to ask all those who want to help me celebrate my 23rd year on Earth do so by donating $23 to my campaign fund. It’ll go a long way in making sure that the volunteers have the equipment they need to get the word out there about what my campaign is about.
Why donate? Well, if you want an energetic and passionate individual working to examine every single dollar the state of Florida spends and make sure it’s being used efficiently and correctly, I’m your guy. If that sentence characterizes someone you’d like in a legislature, consider that for $23 you can help provide more than fifty supporters with bumper stickers or more than a dozen yard signs to put out in the district to get the word out.
I hope that you help make my 23rd birthday a very special one! Just click on the link below in order to help out.

After a bit of an absence, I return to the blogging world. For those keeping track at home, my slight sabbatical was in order to tie up some loose ends to guarantee a successful 15-month trek towards a victory in the primary. What’s certain is that I’m really looking forward to those 15 months (and the subsequent two and a half that lead to the general election and a job in Tallahassee).
As for what I’ve been up to, I don’t need to go much farther than the last three days for highlights. On Monday afternoon I had the chance to attend an event sponsored by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen that featured Ambassador John Bolton as the keynote speaker. Ambassador Bolton is an incredibly smart man – pretty impressive that he can break down international conflicts with such ease. A few hours ago, I went to a kickoff event for the American Diabetes Association’s upcoming walk in October. Besides being for an awesome cause, the reception had the interesting characteristic of featuring both the current Representative Robaina and the future Representative Robaina (that’d be me!).
Stay tuned for more blog posts and the launching of issue breakdowns throughout the summer!

I went to the Doral tea party yesterday – one of 3,000 strong, according to the Miami-Dade PD – and man, was it a thrill. It’s incredible to see a grassroots reaction simply come out of nowhere like this. No parties, no infrastructure, no logistical support…..simply some emails, facebook invites, and texts that unite together for a message that is united in content though it is derived spontaneously. The founding fathers are definitely smiling.
Can’t wait until Sunday for the big Miami tea party in downtown. The turnout should be tremendous!

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting the College Republicans’ annual convention as both an outgoing member of the Executive Board and a candidate for office. It was a nice experience (topped off with lechon for dinner!) that included hearing former Speaker Marco Rubio address the convention. The future of conservatism in Florida truly is bright.
Part of the weekend’s events was a speech I got a chance to give to the convention during the banquet at the end of the night. Along with fellow state candidate Ariel Fernandez, I spoke to the attendees and mentioned why I thought my candidacy was so important to District 117, the Florida House of Representatives as a whole. That’s not the only speech in the queue, either, because I’ve got another one coming up this Tuesday in front of the Rising Republican Youth of South Florida – hopefully it goes as well as the CR speech did!

I’m going to have a full update later this weekend, but I just wanted to drop by and let everyone know that I’m at the Florida Federation College Republicans’ annual convention in Florida International University. Marco Rubio is currently speaking and he really has some great ideas.
I’ve got a speech later on tonight in front of the entire FFCR at the annual banquet. Going to be a lot of fun!

Another REC meeting tonight, where there were more elections happening than I’ve probably ever seen in my life at once. We selected a whole slew of new people to the committee and to alternate spots. It was an impressive display of both attendance and genuine interest in conservative politics – a great sign for the future!
As some of you may be aware, today is the fundraising deadline for the first quarter. The campaign so far has been an incredible experience, starting literally from nothing and building everything up from the ground through hard work, dedication, and the generosity of people that genuinely believe in the cause. The best part about this is that we’re just getting started. You can help with this effort today by donating to the campaign. Every donation – no matter if it’s $5, 50, or 500 – goes a long way towards winning the Republican primary in just 17 short months.
I thank all of you for the support so far, knowing full well that the incredibly positive reaction I’ve gotten so far will only increase as we get closer to election day.
P.S. For those looking to get some campaign gear, you can find it here.

Just a quick update to let all of you know what we’ve been up to at the campaign recently. Tonight I got a chance to check out the FIU College Republicans’ meeting as they planned the statewide convention which they’re hosting in a couple of weeks in Miami. There’ll be about 100 CRs there from all over the state of Florida so it should be a great experience.
Also been working on some numbers so donors can see exactly how much of a bang their buck gives the campaign. For example, donating $50 can possibly lead to the purchasing of 116 bumper stickers or 33 yard signs. Soon enough we’ll be able to get a full sheet going so potential donors can know exactly how they’re helping me get my campaign’s message out.
Right on cue, your link for this entry is (drum roll please):

Much happening about in the campaign universe this week. The most important thing was the appointment of the Technology Chair, Leonard Goenaga. Lenny has done an incredible job with the technology of the campaign so far. He (totally on his own volition) redesigned the blog, moved it over to Word Press, and has been churning out new pages at an incredible pace. Thanks to Lenny, we now have active pages for volunteering, issues, and contacts as well as the spiffy banner, accounts for grassroots outreach on YouTube and Flickr, and an online store where you can buy some campaign gear that’s sure to make you look super cool. That sentence could be longer, but if I wrote everything he’s done in the past couple of weeks it would probably set a record for longest run-on sentence.
Speaking of contacts, you can now reach all three members of the campaign through public email. Leslie Veiga, campaign manager, can be reached at leslie@juankyrobaina.com. The aforementioned Lenny can be reached at Leonard@juankyrobaina.com. Finally, the actual candidate (this guy!) can be reached at juanky@juankyrobaina.com. All of these are up and running so feel free to contact us.
Today’s link is, but of course, the store!

Good news! The support page – previously through Pay Pal – has been moved to a different site so that it’s more stable and can be accessed from any website. You can find the button for that on the side of the site and just below:
